My first weeklong Read-A-Thon is finished. My goals were met and then some!
1. I read the 4 books I intended to read:
"Excellent Women", Barbara PymThen for extra credit I read a 5th, although it turned out to be a longish short story, really, but published as a standalone book:
"Red Bang", Brandt Monroe
"The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra", Vassem Khan
"The Ladies of Missalonghi", Colleen McCullough
"Santal", Ronald FirbankAnd for good measure, I got through 10% of "Red Pottage", Mary Cholmondeley
2. I posted the answers to each day's challenge on my blog. Updates to book reading were posted to Twitter.
3. I also learned a lot about Twitter and attended my first two Twitter Chats! I had tweeted before but not chatted real time. What saved me was finding Twitter's Tweetdeck browser interface. Highly recommended for following a Twitter Chat!
4. I met a whole slew of avid readers, exchanging book titles, encouragements, and general laughter. What fun!
I am now looking forward to the next edition of Bout of Books - August 20th to August 26th!! Got it on my reminder app so I'll be prepared with a TBR pile. Join us!
Looks like you managed to do a whole lot this time. Well done! That's a lot of reading done in a week. And yay for first Twitter chats. Catch up with you in the next readathon. :)

I did read quite a bit, and didn't do any blogging. Twitter chats are very cool! Yes, see you next time around at Bout Of Books.
DeleteLooks like you had a very successful Bout of Books, Christina! I started Excellent Women a while ago, but then set it aside to focus on other books. I really need to pick it up again soon! I also want to read Red Pottage; hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I read "Excellent Women" but I am a bit iffy about it. The main character is so wishy-washy that it made me shudder. Sometimes it's hard to get into a character in an older book, as times have changed so much. Still, I did like it. Hope you do, too! I reviewed it here: https://booktapestry.blogspot.com/2018/05/is-she-excellent-woman.html
